Description
This is a polished, elongated wedge-shaped slice of scenic moss agate from Indonesia, showing a translucent cream, white and pale beige base with distinct red-brown and green moss-like inclusions concentrated toward one end. A small pale sparkly crystalline area sits near the lower centre and subtle concentric banding appears around the margin. The faces are smoothly polished and the piece retains a relatively sharp outer edge. The slice measures 4.0 × 2.2 × 0.4 cm and weighs 7 g. Colour distribution is strongest at one end where the moss-like inclusions cluster; the rest of the slice remains largely translucent to pale in tone. The small crystalline patch adds a touch of internal texture against the otherwise smooth, polished surfaces. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), and scenic varieties commonly show dendritic or moss-like inclusions within a chalcedony host.
