Description
This pale blue to blue‑grey Blue lace agate fragment features a prominent open drusy cavity across the centre–right, lined with white to pale blue sparkling microcrystals. The piece is irregular in form with a rough grey matrix still attached and slightly rounded edges, showing translucent to opaque banding visible at the cut edges. Measuring 8 × 7 × 5 cm and weighing 278 g, the specimen presents clear banding at the margins and an attractive contrast between the smoother agate surfaces and the granular drusy pocket. The cavity crystals catch the light and provide a textured, sparkly surface against the softer blue chalcedony. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony, a microcrystalline variety of quartz (SiO2), and commonly forms in cavities and fractures; drusy cavities like this are typical places for tiny quartz crystals to line an open space within the host rock. The locality given for this piece is Namibia.
