Description
This is a polished teardrop-shaped slice of Black Moss Agate with striking dark banded patterning and several pale cream oval zones. Portions of the piece range from translucent to opaque, and a rough, unpolished outer edge is visible around part of the perimeter. The slice measures 3.1 × 2.5 × 0.4 cm and weighs 4 g. Origin: Indonesia. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), and specimens like this commonly show paired translucent and opaque zones within the same slice, revealing the layered structure typical of the material.
