Description
This polished blue lace agate nodule displays delicate pale blue-to-white concentric banding around a central hollow lined with drusy-looking surfaces. One face is smoothly polished to reveal the banding and cavity, while the outer edges retain the rough natural rind and an irregular, roughly oval outline. The piece measures 8.5 × 6 × 3 cm and weighs 286 g. The polished interior contrasts with the rough exterior, emphasising the central hollow and the tiny crystalline drusy texture within. The overall shape is irregular and oval, with the polish confined to the exposed face. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), and nodules like this commonly form in cavities where concentric silica layers develop; the drusy interior is a familiar texture where fine quartz crystals line a cavity.
