Description
This tall rectangular scenic moss agate cabochon shows a glossy, polished surface with a creamy white to translucent chalcedony-like background and pronounced olive‑green to dark brown mossy, branching patterning concentrated along one side. The straight-sided outline has slightly rounded corners and irregular scenic inclusion clusters that give the piece a landscape-like character. The cabochon measures 4.5 × 2 × 0.4 cm and weighs 10 g. The cut is a slim, straight-sided rectangle (slab/cabochon form) with a high polish that highlights the contrast between the pale chalcedony ground and the darker mossy filaments. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz); scenic or “moss” agates commonly show dendritic or filamentous inclusions within a translucent to opaque chalcedony host, which is the general class this piece represents.
