Description
This polished Scenic Moss Agate cabochon shows translucent cream to pale grey chalcedony with warm honey-brown margins and curved, light-coloured banding. Distinct brown–green mossy/dendritic inclusions cross the face, giving the piece its characteristic scenic look. The face is polished overall, with minor pits and a few small druzy parts at the edge. The cabochon measures 4 × 3 × 0.4 cm and weighs 12 g. Origin is Indonesia. Surface wear is limited to the minor pits and small druzy areas; no other condition issues are visible. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony, a microcrystalline variety of quartz (SiO2). Scenic or moss agates commonly show dendritic inclusions within translucent chalcedony, which produce landscape-like patterns.
