Description
This is a polished teardrop scenic moss agate cabochon showing a translucent to semi-translucent milky-white to cream base with soft central banding. Brown and greenish dendritic-looking inclusions are concentrated near the lower edge and along the left side, visible beneath the smooth, polished surface. The cabochon measures 3.0 × 2.2 × 0.4 cm and weighs 6 g. The surface is smoothly finished with no internal treatments stated; the specimen presents as a thin, flat-backed teardrop suited to jewellery or study of scenic agate patterns. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), and scenic or “moss” agates commonly show branching, dendritic mineral-like inclusions within a chalcedony matrix. This example comes from Indonesia and illustrates those characteristic internal patterns.
