Description
This polished scenic Moss Agate cabochon shows a strong mossy‑green branching pattern concentrated in the lower half and along the margins, set against cream, white and golden‑yellow to brown tones. The piece is oval and flat‑backed with a glossy polish that highlights the internal patterning. Measuring 3.3 × 2.6 × 0.4 cm and weighing 7 g, the cabochon also displays a softer pale banded area near the top that contrasts with the denser mossy region below. The surfaces are smooth and the overall profile is thin and wearable for jewellery settings that accept flat backs. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony, a microcrystalline variety of quartz (SiO2); scenic agates commonly preserve dendritic or filamentous mineral inclusions and silica banding that produce the landscape‑like patterns seen here. This example comes from Indonesia.
