Description

This polished Red Moss Agate cabochon shows lively mottled red–orange–cream–grey patterning with irregular banding and swirls across a domed, glossy surface. Areas range from opaque to slightly translucent, giving depth to the colour zones. Cut and finished as an oval cabochon, the piece measures 4.4 × 2.5 × 0.4 cm and weighs 10 g. The surface is smooth and highly polished, emphasising the stone’s internal pattern rather than crystal faces or external texture. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), commonly showing layered or swirling patterns in a range of colours; Indonesian material often displays rich red and orange tones within its banding.
