Description
This polished marquise (leaf-shaped) Scenic Moss Agate cabochon shows a translucent to semi-translucent cream to pale beige base with brown to olive-green moss-like inclusions concentrated near the top and along the edges. The surface has a smooth glossy polish and the lower half displays subtle banded and swirl patterning. The cabochon measures 4.8 × 2.3 × 0.4 cm and weighs 6 g. Its shape and polish make the internal moss-like dendritic features and the soft banding easy to read against the pale ground. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), and scenic or “moss” varieties commonly show dendritic or filamentous inclusions that produce landscape-like patterns. This piece is a straightforward example of that scenic character from Indonesia.
