Description
This fluorite shard shows a densely crystal-covered surface with a stepped, shard-like habit and dark grey–purple colouring. Tan-brown matrix is visible on one side, and the specimen presents as a compact, hand-sized piece. Measuring 6 × 5 × 3.5 cm and weighing 104 g, the piece is a solid example of a crystal-covered fluorite fragment from Mekhtar in Loralai District, Balochistan, Pakistan. The stepped crystal surface gives the shard texture and relief, while the matrix provides a contrasting earthy tone. Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF2) and commonly forms cubic or stepped crystal habits; many fluorite specimens can show fluorescence under ultraviolet light, though UV behaviour varies between individual pieces.
