Description
Small but photogenic YGX fluorite showing delicate purple cubic crystals set against an interestingly formed quartz surface with chlorite, overall H 6 cm and 86 g. The cubes present clear, boxy outlines and sit across the quartz rather than replacing it.
The quartz provides a low-angled host surface with scattered chlorite visible as greenish material alongside the fluorite cubes. Measurements: H 6 cm × W 2.4 cm × D 1.5 cm; weight 86 g.
Mineral context
Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF2) and commonly forms cubic crystals. Many fluorite specimens fluoresce under ultraviolet light, although UV behaviour varies between specimens.
