Description
This hand-sized cluster combines pale yellow to colourless translucent calcite and fluorite crystals with blocky to rhombohedral-looking faces and glassy, reflective surfaces. Several intergrown crystals sit together on a darker purple–grey matrix, producing a compact, tactile specimen. The piece measures 4.5 × 3.5 × 2 cm and weighs 48 g. Surfaces show good reflectivity on the crystal faces and there are multiple intergrowths rather than isolated single points. The matrix provides a strong colour contrast with the paler crystals and is an integral part of the overall habit. Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF2) and calcite is calcium carbonate (CaCO3); both commonly occur together in hydrothermal and vein environments, so their association here is typical for specimens from this general region.
