Description
This rough triangular specimen is blue lace agate with pale blue to blue‑white banding visible across the interior chalcedony. Irregular natural edges expose the banded layering while a tan–grey rough host rind frames the piece. The specimen measures 7 × 6 × 3 cm and weighs 185 g. The interior banding is chalcedony‑like in appearance; surfaces are mostly matte to slightly waxy, and a few darker greenish patches are visible on the external rind. There is no additional treatment or polishing. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), commonly found as layered fillings in cavities and fractures; the pale blue banding here is a typical appearance for material traded as blue lace agate from southern African localities.
