Description
This is a pale blue–lavender wedge of Blue lace agate from Namibia, with a flat base and a tapered, slightly irregular top edge. The piece is translucent to semi-translucent and displays fine-grained surfaces with a subtle sparkling texture across its faces. The specimen measures 8.5 × 5 × 2.5 cm and weighs 169 g. It is a rough fragment with a wedge-shaped outline and a flat bottom, suitable for examination or gentle handling; edges are and slightly irregular rather than shaped or ground. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz); in general, blue lace agate shows layered colour banding and a soft, pastel palette, traits commonly seen in such material though specific banding patterns may vary from piece to piece.
