Description
This polished lapis lazuli freeform shows a deep cobalt-to-royal blue body with speckled lighter and darker mottling across its surface. The piece has an angular, flat-faced outline with rounded edges and corners and a glossy polish that produces a diagonal reflective band across the top. Measuring 6.0 × 3.6 × 3.0 cm and weighing 110 g, the stone is opaque and presented as a smooth, hand-shaped freeform rather than a cut cabochon. The polish and flat-faced outline emphasise the colour zoning and mottled patterning without visible damage. Lapis lazuli is a rock commonly dominated by the blue mineral lazurite and frequently contains calcite and pyrite in general terms; Sar-e-sang in Afghanistan is a well-known source for deep-blue material. This sentence is general context rather than a claim about this specific piece.
