Description
This polished Lapis Lazuli slab shows rich royal-blue patches interrupted by lighter blue streaks and distinct white–grey banding across flat, glossy faces. Scattered brassy metallic-looking specks are visible on the surface, and the piece is angular and blocky in form. The slab measures 3.5 × 3.7 × 4.0 cm and weighs 157 g. Surfaces are smoothly polished, with clearly defined banding and colour zoning between the deep blue and paler areas. The overall shape is roughly blocky with flat faces rather than rounded or tumbled edges. Origin: Sar-e-sang, Afghanistan. Lapis Lazuli is a rock dominated by the blue mineral lazurite and commonly contains calcite (white to grey banding) and pyrite (brassy metallic specks), which helps explain the combination of colours and the metallic inclusions visible here.
