Red Moss Agate polished freeform cabochon — Indonesia, 22 g

Description

This is a polished Red Moss Agate freeform cabochon showing warm red and orange mottling across a glossy surface. The cabochon measures 4 × 4 × 0.4 cm and weighs 22 g. Its low-profile, flat-backed shape and smooth polish make the mottled red and orange areas easy to read against paler chalcedony ground. There is to the surface. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony — a microcrystalline variety of quartz — and commonly shows a range of colours and internal patterning. Indonesian agates are often worked into thin polished slabs and cabochons to display their internal colours and moss-like inclusions.
