Description
Polished Lapis Lazuli slab showing a strong vivid blue body interrupted by mottled white patches and dark grey–black veins across a smooth, glossy surface. The piece is opaque and has been cut to a roughly square outline with even faces on both sides. This specimen measures 3.7 × 4 × 2 cm and weighs 85 g. The polish emphasises the blue colour and the contrasting white and dark veining, producing a clean, flat presentation. There is on the polished faces. Lapis Lazuli is a rock typically dominated by the blue mineral lazurite and commonly contains white calcite and dark sulphide or silicate minerals; Sar-e-sang in Afghanistan is a well-known source for lapis material.
