Description
This polished lapis lazuli slab shows a deep, vivid blue body interrupted by mottled white patches and streaks with scattered dark speckling across a smooth, opaque surface. The piece is flat and angular-rectangular in outline, its surface worked to a consistent polish. Measured at 4.5 × 3.7 × 1.0 cm and weighing 33 g, the slab is compact and hand-friendly in size. The polish brings out the contrast between the blue matrix and the lighter mottling while preserving the specimen’s opaque character. Lapis lazuli is a rock dominated by the blue mineral lazurite and commonly contains calcite and darker accessory minerals; Sar-e-sang, Afghanistan, is a well-known source for vivid blue material.
