This is an oval polished cabochon-style slice of fossilised palm root showing a dense mottled network of black, grey and pale-cream with pronounced vein-like outlining across the face. The surface is smoothly polished and opaque, revealing the specimen’s contrasting tonal pattern. The piece measures 4.4 × 3 × 0.4 cm and weighs 15 g. Origin: Indonesia. Fossilised palm root (palmwood) represents organic wood that has been permineralised and preserved as a dense, rock-like material. Variations in colour and veining are typical for palmwood and reflect the internal structure of the original root material.
