Description
This polished Black Moss Agate slab presents strong dark brown to black banding surrounding translucent cream-to-honey zones and a central druzy-like cavity. The piece is an elongated, tapered cabochon with a glossy surface and clear internal banding that contrasts with the sparkly cavity. Measuring 4.5 × 2.5 × 0.4 cm and weighing 8 g, the slab is from Indonesia and has a smooth, thin profile suited to collection or lapidary use. The central cavity shows a fine drusy texture visible against the polished faces; is noted in the supplied measurements and imagery. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), and specimens like this commonly form as fillings in cavities where layering produces the banded patterns and occasional drusy interiors. The material here shows the typical translucency and banding associated with agate.
