Description
This is a single Wenshan calcite specimen composed of pale cream-to-white translucent crystals arranged in a compact, stepped aggregate. Crystal faces are blocky to rhombohedral in character and the cluster shows small areas of light tan staining; no broad flat base is visible in the pictured view. The piece measures 9 × 6.5 × 8 cm and weighs 510 g. The overall habit is a dense, stepped assemblage rather than isolated large points, giving a compact, textured surface across the visible faces. Calcite is calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and commonly forms a wide variety of crystal habits and aggregates; Wenshan material is noted for producing cream-to-white calcite in compact clusters like this one.
