Description
This pale white–colourless calcite cluster shows a mix of bladed and blocky crystal faces sitting above a drusy, granular lower area. The specimen is presented on a clear stand and retains the crystal textures visible across its surfaces. Measuring 9 × 10 × 4 cm and weighing 229 g, the cluster combines larger crystal habit on the upper surfaces with finer drusy material beneath, giving clear variation in texture and form across the piece. The material is identified as Wenshan calcite from Wenshan, China. Calcite is calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and commonly forms a wide range of habits from scalenohedral and rhombohedral to bladed and granular aggregates; specimens from Wenshan are often encountered in light, colourless to pale tones.
