Description
This cabinet-sized Wenshan calcite plate carries a dense spread of pale cream to translucent crystal clusters across its front, rounded to scalloped in shape. The crystals display a soft vitreous to satiny lustre and include small drusy-like patches; parts of the underlying orange‑brown matrix are rough and granular. The piece measures 11 × 11 × 6 cm and weighs 652 g. Calcite is calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and occurs in many habits and aggregate forms; Wenshan material is typically encountered as plates and crusts of pale to translucent calcite, often with drusy or scalloped crystal surfaces.
