Description
This compact Wenshan calcite druse is formed of numerous small translucent to semitranslucent crystals that create a sparkly, drusy surface across an irregular rounded cluster. The colour is a clear bright orange-yellow and the specimen is shown on a clear acrylic stand. Measuring 8 × 6 × 5 cm and weighing 200 g, the cluster presents a dense covering of small crystals rather than large isolated points, giving an overall textured, gemmy surface. The piece is intact noted and retains its natural, unpolished external form. Calcite is calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and commonly occurs in a wide range of crystal habits and aggregate forms; Wenshan material is known in trade for lively colour varieties. This description refers to this specific specimen’s appearance and measurements.
