Description
This fluorite cluster shows a mix of green to pale green translucent crystals sitting on a dark rocky matrix. Several larger crystals display flat reflective faces and obvious internal zoning, with clearer and darker green bands visible through the crystal. The piece measures 9.5 × 11 × 5 cm and weighs 406 g. Crystal habit ranges from blocky to somewhat irregular; the largest crystals present broad, flat faces that catch the light. The matrix is dark and rocky, providing contrast to the green fluorite. Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF2) and commonly forms cubic or blocky crystals; many specimens from Inner Mongolia show colour zoning like this example. UV fluorescence varies between individual fluorite specimens and is not indicated for this specific piece.
