Description
This compact drusy cluster features translucent to semi-translucent fluorite and calcite crystals in orange-brown and grey to colourless tones. The crystals are angular with relatively sharp faces and edges and form an irregular, compact aggregation with a sparkly, drusy surface. The specimen measures 7 × 5 × 3 cm and weighs 137 g; it is mounted on a clear acrylic display stand. The overall texture is a close-packed cluster of small, angular crystals without obvious large individual terminations. Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF2) and commonly forms cubic crystals, while calcite is calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and occurs in a wide range of geological settings. This piece comes from Mekhtar, Loralai District, Balochistan, Pakistan, and shows the mixed fluorite–calcite habit often encountered in hydrothermal mineral associations in that region.
