Description
This wedge-shaped Amethyst cluster has a dense, drusy surface of deep purple crystals with mixed darker and lighter purple areas across the crystal face. The specimen has a pointed top and a broader base, with a rough, lighter-coloured outer edge visible around parts of the piece. Weighing 422 g and measuring 10 × 5.5 × 6 cm, the cluster presents tightly packed small crystals that give a sparkly, textured surface. The overall form reads as a narrow wedge, with the deepest purple concentrated across portions of the crystal face and paler tones toward the margin. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2); quartz commonly forms crystals in cavities and as drusy coatings, which is the context for the fine, glittering crystal surface seen on this specimen.
