Description

This upright wedge-shaped Amethyst druse shows a dense carpet of deep purple through lavender crystals sitting on a natural brown matrix. The crystal surface is drusy across the face, giving a textured, gemmy appearance concentrated toward the specimen’s angled face. Measuring 7.5 × 5 × 5 cm and weighing 172 g, the piece is compact and self-supporting in its upright orientation. Colour ranges from deep purple to paler lavender across the druse; the brown matrix remains visible at the base and along the edges, providing contrast with the crystalline zone. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2) and commonly forms drusy coatings and crystal-lined cavities. This Brazilian specimen presents those typical druse textures and the familiar purple hues associated with amethyst.
