Description
This upright, roughly triangular amethyst druse has a dense, glittering surface made up of many small purple-to-deep-violet crystal points, with a pale lavender-to-grey outer rim around the edge. The piece measures 9 × 6 × 7 cm and weighs 267 g. The surface is covered by tightly packed crystal points that give good overall sparkle; the specimen sits upright and displays the druse face cleanly. Origin is Brazil and the material is amethyst (quartz). Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2) and commonly forms crystalline druses and clusters in cavities and seams. This specimen shows the typical colour range from pale lavender to deeper violet commonly seen in Brazilian amethyst.
