Description
This upright freeform amethyst druse is densely covered in tiny, sparkling drusy crystals that show a deep to very dark purple colour across the surface. The specimen has a rounded top with a distinct pale grey–green rim around the edge and a flat, rough light‑coloured base. Measuring 7.5 × 3 × 4.5 cm and weighing 121 g, the piece presents compact drusy crystal coverage rather than individual large points; the base is left rough and light in tone. Colour saturation is strongest on the exposed druse surface while the rim and base provide a contrasting border. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2) and commonly forms small drusy crystals in cavities and vugs; Brazilian material is frequently traded in a range of tones from pale to very dark purple.
