Description
This compact amethyst cluster shows a sparkly, multi-faceted crystal surface with a darker purple centre grading out to a paler rim. The specimen has an irregular pointed-oval outline and a small area of brown matrix at the base. Measuring 7 × 4.5 × 4 cm and weighing 142 g, the piece is a hand-sized cluster of purple-lavender quartz crystals from Brazil. The crystals present as many small points across the surface, producing lively internal reflections where light catches the faces. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2); quartz commonly forms in cavities and as clusters of crystal points. This example is a straightforward Brazilian amethyst cluster that illustrates common colour zoning from deeper centre tones to paler edges.
