Scenic Moss Agate Teardrop Cabochon, 7 g — Indonesia

Description

This is a polished teardrop scenic Moss Agate cabochon showing cream-to-white horizontal to gently wavy banding across the upper half and a conspicuous pale drusy-looking cavity near the upper centre. The lower half carries mottled brown, black and green scenic patterning; the surface is glossy and where thinner is slightly translucent. The cabochon measures 4.0 × 2.3 × 0.4 cm and weighs 7 g. Origin is Indonesia. The overall finish is a smooth polish that emphasises the banding, scenic textures and the small drusy area close to the top. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), and scenic varieties like this commonly show dendritic or moss-like internal patterns and banding within a chalcedony ground.
