Description
This is a polished freeform cabochon of pink amethyst and flower agate with a translucent to semi-translucent pink–peach body interrupted by scattered creamy-white floral or cloudy patches. The piece has a rounded-rectangular outline and a glossy polish, with a few small pits and minor surface irregularities visible. Measuring about 5 × 3.5 × 1 cm and weighing 42 g, the cab is a compact, hand-polished slice suitable for jewellery or a small specimen. The surface shows the rounded, smoothed edges typical of a freeform cabochon cut rather than faceted work. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2); pink amethyst and flower agate are traded as attractive, often banded or clouded varieties within that quartz–agate family. This example comes from Madagascar.
