Description
This is a quartz-rich specimen showing mostly white to colourless quartz with scattered green patches and crusts of epidote across its surface. The piece has opaque to slightly translucent areas and retains irregular natural surfaces with no visible damage. It is presented on a clear acrylic display stand. Measures 8 × 7 × 2 cm and weighs 139 g. Small areas of orange-brown staining are present on the surface. The epidote appears as discrete green patches and thin crusts rather than large isolated crystals, sitting on the quartz-bearing host. Quartz is silicon dioxide (SiO2) and commonly forms in a wide range of geological settings; epidote is a calcium–aluminium sorosilicate that is often pistachio-green where it occurs. Together they are a familiar pairing in many hydrothermally altered and metamorphic rocks from Sichuan localities.
