Description
This is a flat brucite plate showing a vivid, deep yellow colour and a sparkly surface. The specimen is a thin plate with an even yellow tone across its face and visible small crystal surfaces that catch the light. The piece measures H 8 cm × W 7 cm × D 1.5 cm and weighs 60 g. It presents as a broad, low-relief plate rather than isolated prismatic crystals; the surface texture is composed of closely packed crystal faces that give the specimen its glinting appearance. Brucite is magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) and is known to occur in a range of colours; yellow variants like this are among the more vivid colour forms encountered. This example comes from Pakistan and Balochistan, a region that produces a variety of brucite specimens.
