Description
This hand specimen is a mixed Rhodochrosite, fluorite and pyrite mass showing a central salmon–pink to orange–pink area set into a pale grey–white, crystal-rich host. Surfaces show sparkly granular crystals alongside partly blocky crystal faces in an overall irregular, mostly massive form. Measuring 5 × 3.5 × 3.5 cm and weighing 105 g, the piece presents scattered dark grey–black patches and semi‑translucent to opaque zones. Crystal surfaces catch the light and there are blocky faces visible among more granular textures; the specimen is an irregular, non‑symmetric shape rather than a single isolated crystal. Fluorite is a calcium fluoride (CaF2) that commonly forms cubic crystals and can show variable translucency; rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate often responsible for pink to salmon tones in mixed specimens. Pyrite appears here as the darker, metallic patches within the mass.
