Description
This specimen is quartz and epidote with a dense coverage of dark green to olive-green crystalline material across a pale host. The surface reads granular to drusy in places, with scattered white to colourless translucent quartz crystals and an irregular, jagged outline rather than a single flat face. The piece measures 19 × 12 × 3 cm and weighs 793 g. Coverage is mixed green-and-white mottled in appearance, with areas of concentrated dark green to olive tones; the surface texture is uneven and jagged, and no obvious single flat face is visible. Quartz is silicon dioxide (SiO2) and commonly appears as translucent to colourless crystals; epidote typically gives green to olive tones in mineral assemblages. The specimen’s mix of drusy quartz and green epidote is characteristic of hydrothermal alteration in many localities.
