Amethyst druse on triangular slab — Brazil, 358 g

Description

This triangular amethyst slab shows a dense drusy surface of dark purple to smoky lavender crystals across most of the piece. The crystal surface is sparkly and granular; the specimen is displayed upright on a clear stand. Measuring 8 × 10 × 4 cm and weighing 358 g, the piece has a pale greenish‑white crust and a brownish edge visible along the lower and right sides. The overall form is a cut slab with an intact druse of small amethyst crystal points over the face. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2); quartz commonly forms drusy coatings and cavity linings, which is the habit seen here. The supplied provenance is Brazil.
