Description

This compact Amethyst cluster displays dense, small sharp-faced crystals with strongly reflective faces and clear dark-to-lavender colour zoning across the cluster. The specimen has a curved, geode-like outer edge that frames the crystal surface and gives the piece a rounded outline. Measuring 6.5 × 4.5 × 4 cm and weighing 189 g, the cluster is composed of closely packed crystal points with highly reflective faces visible across the surface. Colour ranges from deep purple in places to paler lavender zones, producing clear banding across the crystal tips and inner faces. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2) and commonly forms as crystal-lined cavities and clusters; Brazilian material is frequently seen in this habit. This specimen is a straightforward example of that typical amethyst cluster structure and colour zoning.
