Description

This Amethyst druse presents a densely crystalline surface covered in abundant small, sparkling crystal faces. Colour transitions from medium–dark purple centrally to paler lilac towards the edges, with a noticeably darker zone in the centre and an irregular natural outer edge and base. The piece measures 7.5 × 6 × 6 cm and weighs 219 g, a compact cluster with a rough outer margin and an exposed drusy interior. The crystals form a tight, glittering layer rather than large isolated points, and there is to the exposed surface. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2); quartz commonly forms drusy and crystalline surfaces like this in cavities and vein fillings. This specimen’s Brazilian origin is noted as part of its provenance.
