Description
This rounded piece of Blue lace agate displays soft, pale blue translucent banding that wraps around a darker central hollow cavity. The inner banded area is noticeably smoother and more polished in appearance compared with the exterior, which retains a rougher rind. The specimen stands upright and measures 7.5 × 4 × 4.5 cm, weighing 235 g. The banding shows gentle, cloudy colour variation rather than sharp contrast, and the hollow at the centre gives the piece an open internal feature visible from the face. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), commonly forming in cavities; the banding and cavity seen here are typical features for agate-type material from Namibia.
