Description
This specimen is a dense amethyst druse with predominantly dark purple crystal coverage sitting on a rough grey matrix. The drusy surface shows clear colour zoning from deep purple through lighter lavender across the crystal tops, and the matrix is visible at the left and base. Measuring 11.5 × 8 × 6 cm and weighing 628 g, the piece is a compact, hand‑sized example with tightly packed small crystals across the exposed surface. The matrix remains untrimmed on one side and the base, giving a natural, uncut presentation. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2), and many Brazilian amethysts display strong purple zoning like this example. The specimen illustrates typical drusy quartz texture: a coating of numerous small crystal points across a host rock surface.
