Description

This polished Bumblebee Jasper (calcite) takes a pointed teardrop outline with a high-gloss surface and bold banding in orange‑yellow, cream and dark grey–black. The piece shows a slightly translucent central area and a broad darker band across the lower half, emphasising its layered colour zones. Measuring 10 × 5.5 × 1 cm and weighing 120 g, the form is a flat, freeform teardrop with a smooth, reflective polish and even edges. Colour bands run broadly across the face rather than in narrow stripes, and the polish reveals subtle variations in translucency through the centre. Bumblebee Jasper in trade is an assemblage containing calcite and other pigments that produces vivid banding; such material is commonly worked into polished cabochons and freeforms where the layered colours show clearly.
