Description
This specimen is a pale cream to white calcite cluster showing a scalloped, softly layered habit of translucent to semi‑translucent crystals. The cluster sits on a tan cylindrical support and is shown on a clear acrylic display base. Measuring 6.5 × 7 × 6 cm and weighing 209 g, the group displays stepped, gently curved crystal faces and an overall clustered form. Surfaces are softly layered rather than sharply angular; no specific damage or treatments are indicated. Calcite is calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and commonly forms a wide variety of crystal habits and aggregate shapes in different geological settings. This example illustrates the layered, scalenohedral-to-mammillary textures that calcite can produce in fracture‑filling and vug environments.
