Description
This Brazilian aquamarine cluster shows multiple bluish-green prismatic crystal sections emerging from a beige-to-honey host. The specimen has an irregular surface with a number of small cavities and natural fractures; some crystal areas appear translucent to cloudy. The piece measures 5 × 6 × 5 cm and weighs 125 g. It is shown on a clear rectangular display stand. Visible crystals are prismatic rather than sharply terminated, and the host remains largely intact around the crystal group. Aquamarine is the blue–green variety of beryl, a cyclosilicate mineral. Brazilian localities are commonly associated with gem-quality beryl specimens, and colour in aquamarine typically reflects trace amounts of iron in the mineral structure.
