Description
This piece is an Amethyst specimen from Brazil featuring a dense drusy surface of purple-to-lavender small crystal points across the front face. The drusy area is bordered by pale white to translucent outer crystal zones and sits against a visibly dark host rock at the margins and base. The specimen measures 11 × 9 × 5 cm and weighs 408 g. Its overall shape is natural and irregular, with a sparkly interior texture from the many small amethyst crystal points; the dark host remains exposed around the edges and base. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2), and quartz commonly forms crystal surfaces and drusy coatings in cavity and vein settings. This specimen shows those typical drusy surface characteristics while retaining visible host rock.
