Description

This is an Amethyst vertical section showing a rich, deep purple druse at its centre framed by a paler, translucent outer quartz rind. The exposed crystal surface is drusy and sparkly, with an uneven natural exterior and some minor edge chips visible. The piece measures 7 × 4.5 × 5 cm and weighs 201 g. The outer rind is lighter in colour than the inner druse, giving a clear contrast between the interior purple and the surrounding quartz. The specimen retains its natural cut/section form rather than a worked or base. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2); quartz commonly forms drusy coatings and cavity linings, which is consistent with the small, glittering crystal faces seen here. Origin: Brazil.
