Description
This upright polished Blue Lace Agate shows translucent pale blue to blue‑grey banding across the frontal face and a rounded, botryoidal cavity at its centre with a fine, sparkly drusy surface. The top edge is irregular and unpolished, while rough natural matrix remains along the sides and base. Measuring 6 × 4 × 3 cm and weighing 140 g, the specimen combines a smooth polished display face with unchanged natural margins. The drusy-lined cavity is rounded rather than elongated and contrasts with the banded chalcedonic layers around it. Agate is a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), commonly forming in cavities and fractures; fine drusy crystal linings like this are a frequent accompaniment in such cavities and add a delicate, crystallised texture to the inner surface.
